Food Guide Pyramid

Based on nutrition research, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has grouped all the foods we eat according to the nutritional contributions they make. For a balanced diet that includes all the food groups in good proportions, you can find recommendations based on your age, sex and activity level at www.mypyramid.gov.

Due to their high-quality protein, eggs are included in the meat and meat alternates group. One egg equals one ounce of lean meat, poultry, fish or seafood.
