National Egg Month: Appealing Taste

At one time, during telephone interviews, so many people said “I Love Eggs” – without being asked – that American Egg Board used the phrase in its advertising. Just about everybody really loves eggs! In the U.S, eggs are so popular that they’re used by 94% of households.

Eggs contain many more than 100 flavor components. Even so, you might describe the end result as bland. Eggs provide a well-rounded, but neutral, richness. When you cook eggs, you can let that richness stand delicately on its own. You can also let the flavor of eggs serve as a backdrop for more strongly flavored foods or seasonings. Because their flavor doesn’t clash, eggs go well with almost every other food and are appealing to people all over the world. Eggs truly are a global food.

Your family probably loves eggs, even the most finicky kids. Many people have a preference for a certain basic egg dish, often based on what they were served as a child. You can prepare eggs so many different ways that there’s a style to suit everyone of every age – toddlers, kids, tweens, teens, boomers and beyond. And, because you can pair eggs with so many other foods, everyone can enjoy their eggs with just about anything else they like.

In addition to the egg’s taste appeal, some of the good feelings about eggs are related to the warmth of the family sitting down together for a morning meal. So, be sure to put breakfast on your family’s daily calendar.
