NUTRIENT DENSITY

The ratio of nutrients to calories, sometimes called the nutrient-calorie benefit ratio (NCBR). Foods that supply significant amounts of one or more nutrients compared to the number of calories they supply are called nutrient dense. Nutrient-dense foods help you get needed nutrients without excess calories.

Eggs have a high nutrient density because they provide a wide range of nutrients in proportion to their calorie count (about 75 calories per Large egg). Naturally nutrient-dense eggs are an excellent source of choline (per Large egg, at least 23% of daily needs) and a good source of high-quality protein (about 12.6% of the DRV), vitamin B12 (10.8 % of the DRV) and riboflavin (14% of the RDI). Eggs also supply varying amounts of other nutrients, including other vitamins and minerals.
