U.S. Egg Farmers Continue to Build New Demand in Singapore as Shell Eggs Return to Market
U.S. eggs move onto shelves, menus and into new products as producers build customer relationships
CHICAGO (Sept. 16, 2026) – Less than one month after U.S. shell eggs returned to Singapore for the first time in over 20 years, American egg farmers are already turning new market access into lasting demand.
The timing is no accident. International demand for U.S. eggs is surging. U.S. egg exports increased 25% during the first half of 2026, as American Egg Board (AEB), working with the USA Poultry and Egg Export Council (USAPEEC), drove growth for U.S. eggs and egg products across Asia and around the world.
Ten producers representing eight U.S. egg companies traveled to Singapore after meeting with more than 100 importers, retailers, food manufacturers and foodservice customers, driving deals that are putting U.S. eggs on shelves and menus across the market. This trip was about what happens after a market opens: meeting the people moving the product and building relationships that will increase shipments to the country over time.
In Singapore, access is turning into product on shelves and menus. U.S. shell eggs from multiple companies are already stocked at more than 50 FairPrice locations, Singapore’s largest retailer, and the Sheraton Towers Singapore now uses U.S. eggs exclusively, including in its signature New York-style cheesecake. Three new U.S. egg-based products launched at retail during the trip: egg noodles from Hup Huat Noodles Pte, moon cakes and assorted cookies from Bake Mission Pte, and Kaya (a traditional Singaporean breakfast egg jam/spread) from Fong Yit Kaya Pte. Farmers even had an opportunity to pass out samples of U.S. scrambled eggs at FairPrice and interact with live customers at the chilled egg case during the visit.
Each product puts U.S. eggs directly in front of Singaporean customers, from noodle bowls at hawker stalls to festival moon cakes to the kaya spread found on every breakfast table across the country. Importers, including local Singapore supplier N&N Eggs, are already increasing their orders of U.S. shell eggs to meet rising demand, a signal that the early retail wins are translating into sustained supply chain commitment.
“This is what winning back a market looks like. Our farmers sat down with over 100 buyers on the ground in Singapore over a matter of a few days. They walked into FairPrice and saw their U.S. eggs on the shelves. Three new products with U.S. eggs launched during this trip with more to come,” said Emily Metz, president and CEO of AEB. “This market was closed for more than two decades. It’s open because our farmers showed up and did the work. More importantly, every case we move internationally creates opportunity for our producers and strengthens the market at home.”
The delegation met with the Singapore Food Agency and Temasek Polytechnic’s Food Nexus. Chefs led a demonstration of U.S. egg applications and attended dinner at the residence of Graham Mayer, Deputy Chief of Mission, U.S. Embassy, where awards of distinction were presented by Mr. Mayer and Alicia Hernandez, U.S. Regional Agricultural Counselor to Singapore, to the leading U.S. egg importers and key customer partners.
Singapore imports more than 90% of its food and consumes approximately one egg per person per day, making it a key market for U.S. producers and a gateway to broader growth across Southeast Asia. AEB and USAPEEC see potential to grow the opportunity over time beyond shell eggs to U.S. liquid, dried and specialty egg products.
“Seeing U.S. eggs on shelves halfway around the world and meeting the people using them makes this export opportunity very real,” said Ross Dean, vice chair of American Egg Board and head of the delegation. “These are the kinds of relationships that grow into long-term demand for American eggs abroad and create viable, long-term growth for our egg industry at home.”
