How cute are these eggwiches? They are easy to make and can be layered with your favorite ingredients: greens, tomato slices, pickles, cheese, and even flavorful spreads…the options are limitless! Serve these as a fun appetizer at a summer barbeque or pack them for a picnic in the park.

Directions

  1. Slice off a small piece from the bottom of each egg, so that it will stand up. Then, slice each egg in half, lengthwise.

  2. Layer remaining ingredients on the bottom half of each egg boiled egg, then add the top half of the egg.

Ingredients

  • 4 large Hard-boiled eggs, peeled
  • 1 leaf Romaine lettuce, cut into 4 pieces
  • 4 slices Ham, salami, or prosciutto
  • 4 slices Pickles
  • 1 slice Cheese (such as pepato, cheddar, gruyere, pecorino, etc.), cut into 4 squares

To ensure food safety, eggs should be cooked until both the yolk and the white are firm. Consuming raw or undercooked eggs may increase your risk of foodborne illness, especially for those with certain medical conditions. For recipes that call for eggs that are raw or undercooked when the dish is served, use either pasteurized shell eggs that have been treated to destroy Salmonella, or use pasteurized egg products.
